IPL Auction 2023: The auction for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is going to be held on December 23 and Chennai Super Kings will have to participate in it only in the absence of their overseas support staff. Team head coach Stephen Fleming and many other foreign coaches will not come to India for the auction, as the auction is being held near Christmas. However, all these people will be connected with their franchisees through video conferencing from their homes.
Team CEO Kashi Viswanathan told, “Stephen Fleming will not join us in the auction. Due to Christmas preparations none of our overseas staff will be present in Kochi for the auction. All of them are going to join through video conferencing.
Teams wanted to go ahead with the auction
The teams had requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India to extend the auction date, but the board did not accept this request. However, the board has definitely provided the option of video conferencing to the franchisees, which was not given for auction till now. At the time of auction, franchisees could connect with anyone through phone calls, but now for the first time, the facility to connect through video has been provided.

A total of 991 players had registered for the auction, out of which 405 players have found a place in the final list. 136 overseas players have been shortlisted for the auction whose fate will be decided in the auction. Including all the teams, a total of 87 players are to be bought. Sunrisers Hyderabad will have the most while Kolkata Knight Riders will have the least money.
